A San Francisco woman in her 20s?was hospitalized with life-threatening burns Sunday after her boyfriend allegedly doused her with a flammable liquid and set her on fire, police said.
Officers responded to reports of a woman screaming at 12:17 p.m. in the city's Bayview District, according to police spokesman Officer Carlos Manfredi. The woman, whose identity has not been disclosed by police, was rushed to the burn unit of a local hospital in critical condition.
"Most of her face is burnt," the victim's sister, Precious Craig, told?KGO-TV in San Francisco. "Just a little bit of hair is still there, but most of her face is burned."
The?woman took off her clothes and managed to put out the fire immediately after the attack, but police said she nonetheless?sustained serious injuries,?NBC Bay Area reported.
"She took off her shirt and dropped it off there, and then she was running because she got burnt because of the shirt," an anonymous witness told KGO-TV.

Police are searching for the suspected attacker, identified as 22-year-old Dexter Oliver. Oliver is thought to be romantically linked to the woman, according to The Associated Press. Police do not know what prompted the attack.
Oliver is sought on suspicion of attempted murder and arson.?
